MEC Solar

MEC Solar trailer deployed with a SmartFlower tracking array fanned open at each end and high-density panels lining the enclosure

A solar farm that arrives on a trailer. High-density panels and follow-the-sun SmartFlower arrays bank their output in onboard battery storage, then serve your loads or four EVs at once. Silently, with zero fuel and zero emissions.

Homes' worth of power, daily

The solar farm that travels

No fuel to haul. No engine to hear.

The MEC Solar takes fuel out of the equation entirely. A 53-foot trailer carries its own generation: high-density panels lining the enclosure, plus follow-the-sun arrays from ecosystem partner SmartFlower that deploy from each side and track from sunrise to sunset. It runs as primary or backup power beside tents, film sets and race paddocks, because there is nothing to refuel and nothing to hear.

Quiet power, built for the field.

Silent, fuel-free operation

Zero emissions, no fumes, and low-to-no signature. It runs where a generator can't: beside sleeping quarters, on camera, in places where noise and exhaust are dealbreakers.

Four vehicles at once

Four dedicated Level 2 EV charging ports keep a working fleet topped up simultaneously, from support trucks to competition EVs, with no grid connection anywhere in sight.

Built-in wind protection

Desert weather is part of the design. Built-in wind safety protection guards the tracking arrays automatically when conditions turn, then returns them to work.

Primary or backup power

Run it as the site's primary source or hold it in reserve. Scalable and grid-free, it pairs with RI's hydrogen systems when a deployment needs more than the sun provides.

One day at base camp

Sunrise to sunset.

First light: deploy

The trailer opens with the sun

The MEC Solar arrives with the camp and unfolds at dawn. SmartFlower arrays deploy from each side of the trailer while the high-density panels lining the enclosure start collecting at first light. No fuel truck to schedule, no wiring crew, no engine to start.

Sunrise to sunset: track

The arrays follow the sun all day

The follow-the-sun arrays turn with the sky from sunrise to sunset, carrying generation toward 50 kW of peak output while the day's surplus banks into onboard battery storage. When wind picks up, built-in safety protection guards the arrays automatically.

After sundown: deliver

The camp runs on what it banked

When the sun sets, base camp keeps running on the day's stored energy: lighting, communications, and four dedicated Level 2 ports charging four vehicles overnight. The only sound is the camp itself.

Rebelle Rally base camps, five consecutive years

As part of RI's grid-free fleet, the MEC Solar has powered a mobile mini-city of 250 or more people across the Nevada and California desert: camp operations by day and night, with EVs charging on solar.

MotorTrend Performance Vehicle of the Year testing

An RI solar station kept the test EVs charged through the program. MotorTrend's verdict: it "worked flawlessly."

The MEC Solar powered base camp tents, lighting and activities at the OPTIMA Oasis during one of the largest off-road events in the country.

“No one came close to the experience, organization, and contingencies provided by Renewable Innovations.”
